We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,
and the Royal Decree issued in 1972 Regarding Public Holidays and its amendments,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The public holidays for ministries, public authorities, and other units of the administrative apparatus of the state are hereby determined for the following celebrations and occasions as follows:
(a) Hijri New Year – 1 Muharram.
(b) Birth of the Prophet – 12 Rabi Al-Awwal.
(c) Isra and Mi’raj – 27 Rajab.
(d) National Day – 18 and 19 November.
(e) Eid Al-Fitr – from 29 Ramadan to the end of 3 Shawwal.
(f) Eid Al-Adha – from 9 Dhu Al-Hijja to the end of 12 Dhu Al-Hijja.
The dates of some public holidays may be amended on national occasions if the public interest so requires.
Article II
If one or both days of the weekend fall within the holidays mentioned in the preceding, they are compensated by one day.
Article III
All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.
Article IV
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
