Royal Decree 54/93 Declaring Public Benefit Status for the Nizwa Road Dualisation Project (Phase I)

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

and Royal Decree 64/78 Issuing the Law on the Expropriation for Public Benefit and its amendemnts,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Nizwa Road Dualisation Project (Phase I) specified in the attached note and masterplan is hereby deemed a public benefit project.

Article II

The competent entities may seize, through direct execution, real estate and land necessary for the project, and all establishments on them, in accordance with the provisions of the mentioned Law on the Expropriation for Public Benefit.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

Note Regarding the Declaration of Public Benefit Status to the Nizwa Road Dualisation Project (Phase I)

The Nizwa Road Dualisation Project is a vital project as it connects the Governorate of Muscat with the interior regions.

And achieves the following objectives:

1. Implementing the approved structural map according to modern plans.

2. Decongesting traffic, facilitating the flow of traffic, and avoiding accidents.

3. Raising the efficiency of the current road to accommodate the traffic density of vehicles and heavy equipment of the Rusail Industrial Estate.

4. Improving and expanding the current road to meet the international standards of roads, connecting the interior and eastern regions with Muscat Governorate, and facilitating access to various other regions.

5. Beautifying the road and creating recreational areas by creating green spaces on both sides.
