Royal Decree 30/96 Amending Article 12 of the Tender System Issued by Royal Decree 86/84

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

and Royal Decree 86/84 Issuing the Law and Statute of Government Tenders and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The text of article 12 of the mentioned Tender Statute issued by Royal Decree 86/84 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Subject to the provisions of article 1, the provisions of this statute apply to the purchases and works of government units. An internal committee in the unit chaired by the minister shall assume the powers of the Tender Board in accordance with this statute for contracts and works whose value does not exceed two hundred and fifty thousand Rial Omani.

The minister may form sub-tender committees in the directorates general, directorates, or offices of the unit in the governorates and regions, headed by directors general or those responsible for the directorates or offices. These committees shall assume the authorities of the Tender Board in relation to contracts and works whose value does not exceed fifty thousand Rial Omani. The decision of the subcommittee is final if the value of the contracts and works does not exceed ten thousand Rial Omani, and it shall submit its recommendations to the minister for approval if the value exceeds that.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
