Royal Decree 63/98 on the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property and the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property dated 20 March 1883, which was revised in Stockholm on 14 July 1967 and amended on 28 September 1979,

and the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works dated 9 September 1886, which was revised in Paris on 24 July 1971 and amended on 28 September 1979,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the mentioned Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property and Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works is hereby approved, provided that the instrument of accession includes the provisions of article 28(2) of the first convention and article 33(2) of the second convention.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
