We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
and the Law Governing the Work of Engineering Consultancy Offices issued by Royal Decree 120/94,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The text of article 7 of the mentioned Law Governing the Work of Engineering Consultancy Offices is hereby replaced with the following text:
A committee must be formed to review registration applications under the chairmanship of the Director General of Commerce at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the membership of:
– Director General of Town Planning and Survey at the Ministry of Housing.
– Secretary of the Commercial Register at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
– Director of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
– Director of Corporate Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
– Director of Building Permits at Muscat Municipality.
– Director of Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Environment.
– Director of Technical Affairs at the Municipality of Dhofar.
– Two Omani engineers with experience and competence to be determined by the committee stipulated in article 4 of this law.
The committee must convene by a majority of the number of its members, provided that at least one engineer is among those present. Its decisions must be issued by a majority of the members present, and in the case of a tie, the side that includes the chairman prevails.
Article II
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
