Based on the Law on Environmental Protection and Pollution Control issued by Royal Decree 114/2001,
and in pursuance of public interest,
hereby decides
Article I
The killing, hunting, or capturing of wild animals or birds wherever they are found in the Sultanate is hereby banned.
Animals or birds that are proven to be carriers or causes of diseases and represent a real danger to individuals or property are excluded from this ban. The ministry may kill or hunt them, or give a permit to do so to certain competent entities.
Article II
It is permitted, with a permit from the ministry, to take samples from animals or birds for scientific or educational purposes or to conduct studies on animal or plant life.
The mentioned permit must include the name of the permittee, the duration of the permit, its location, and the type of animal or bird from which these samples are permitted to be taken.
Article III
Whoever violates the provisions of this decision must be punished in accordance with the provisions of article 33 of the mentioned Law on Environmental Protection and Pollution Control.
Article III
The mentioned Ministerial Decision 207/93 is hereby repealed.
Article V
This decision comes into force from the date of its issuance, and must be published in the Official Gazette.
