Royal Decree 24/2003 Establishing the Public Authority for Craft Industries

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State issued by Royal Decree 26/75 and its amendments,

and the System of Public Authorities and Establishments issued by Royal Decree 116/91,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

A public authority named the “Public Authority for Craft Industries” is hereby established by virtue of this decree. It enjoys legal personality and must be supervised by the Diwan of Royal Court.

Article II

Sheikha Aisha bint Khalfan bin Jumayyal Al-Siyabiya is hereby appointed president of this authority with the rank of minister.

Article III

The management of the authority must be undertaken by a board composed as follows:

– President of the authority Chairman
– Deputy chairman of the authority Deputy chairman
– A representative of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture Member and secretary
– A representative of the Ministry of National Economy Member
– A representative of the Ministry of Social Development Member
– A representative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Member
– A representative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Member
– A representative of the Ministry of Education Member
– A representative of the Ministry of Manpower Member
– A representative of the Public Authority for Youth Sports and Cultural Activities Member
– President of the Omani Women’s Association in Salalah Member
– President of the Omani Women’s Association in Khasab Member

Article IV

A royal decree must be issued outlining the system of the authority and the management of its affairs.

Article V

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
