We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
the Social Insurance Law issued by Royal Decree 72/91,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The text of article 21(1) of the Social Insurance Law issued by Royal Decree 72/91 and article 30(1) of the System of Social Insurance for Omanis Working Abroad and Their Equivalent issued by Royal Decree 32/2000 is hereby replaced with the following text:
1. The end of the service of the insured person upon reaching the age of sixty, or after, provided that the period of his contribution to the insurance is 180 months at least, or the insured female upon reaching the age of fifty-five, or after, when the period of her contribution to the insurance is 120 months at least.
Article II
The text of the last two paragraphs of article 21 of the mentioned Social Insurance Law is hereby replaced with the following text:
The periods during which the insured receives daily allowances in the event of his temporary inability to work due to a work injury are calculated within the period of contribution to the insurance referred to in the previous two clauses. The periods of absence without pay and the periods of suspension from work without pay must be included in the calculation of the periods stipulated in this article, provided that the prescribed contributions are paid for these periods.
Article III
Article 21(3) of the mentioned Social Insurance Law is hereby repealed.
Article IV
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
