Royal Decree 92/2007 Establishing a Public Authority for Electricity and Water and Appointing Its Chairman

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the System of Public Authorities and Establishments issued by Royal Decree 116/91,

and the Civil Service Law issued by Royal Decree 120/2004,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

A public authority for electricity and water is hereby established to which the mandates, allocations, and assets relating to electricity and water are transferred from the Ministry of Housing, Electricity, and Water, and all employees working in the field of electricity and water in the mentioned ministry are hereby transferred to it with their same financial grades.

A royal decree shall be issued outlining the system of the authority and the management of its affairs.

Article II

Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mahrouqi is hereby appointed president of the authority with the grade of undersecretary of a ministry.

Article III

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
