Royal Decree 42/2008 Granting the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar Some Powers

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Omani Penal Law issued by Royal Decree 7/74,

the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State issued by Royal Decree 26/75,

the Police Law issued by Royal Decree 35/90,

the Judicial Authority Law issued by Royal Decree 90/99,

the Public Prosecution Law issued by Royal Decree 92/99,

the Criminal Procedures Law issued by Royal Decree 97/99,

and the mandates of the Office of the Minister of State and Governor of Dhofar determined in accordance with annex 1 attached to Royal Decree 37/2003,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Minister of State and the Governor of Dhofar have the authority to arrest and detain violating persons in cases of tribal disputes in the governorate, infringement of state-owned lands in it, or forcible objection to projects implemented within its scope, and he may seek the assistance of the Royal Oman Police in this regard.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.
