Royal Decree 26/2011 Establishing a Public Authority for Consumer Protection

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the System of Public Authorities and Establishments promulgated by Royal Decree 116/91,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

A public authority named the “Public Authority for Consumer Protection” is hereby established. It must have legal personality and enjoy financial and administrative independence.

Article II

Dr Said bin Khamis bin Juma Al-Kaabi is hereby appointed president of this authority with the special grade.

Article III

A royal decree must be issued detailing the system of the authority and the management of it is affairs.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
