after perusal of the Law on Environmental Protection and Pollution Control issued by Royal Decree 10/82 and its amendments,
and the Law Regulating Regional Municipalities issued by Royal Decree 87/86,
and in pursuance of public interest,
it is hereby decided
Article I
It is strictly prohibited to cut green trees, and it is also prohibited to collect or transport dry trees (firewood) except on the basis of a permit issued by the competent regional municipality, by the Directorate General of Natural Reserves Affairs for the Governorate of Muscat and the Wilayat of Qurayyat, by the Directorate General of Environment in the Governorate of Dhofar for this governorate, or by the Directorate General of Regional Municipalities and Environment of Batinah North Region for the Wilayat of Sohar.
Article II
Whoever cuts green trees or collects or transports firewood without a permit must be punished with a fine of 200 (two hundred) Rial Omani.
Whoever violates the conditions of the permit must be punished with a fine of 50 (fifty) Rial Omani.
The value of the fine is doubled in the event of the repetition of any of the previous violations.
Article III
This decision must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
