We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
Royal Decree 72/91 Issuing the Social Insurance Law,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The minimum limit of the following pensions due in accordance with the provisions of the mentioned Social Insurance Law is hereby raised to 100 (one hundred) Rial Omani per month:
– Old-age pensions, including early (reduced) pensions.
– Pensions for total permanent disability and death resulting from a work injury or occupational disease.
– Disability and death pensions arising from a non-occupational cause.
– Pensions due under the mentioned System of Social Insurance of Omanis Working Abroad and Their Equivalent.
The mentioned pensions due before the entry into force of the provisions of this decree are hereby increased to 100 (one hundred) Rial Omani per month.
Article II
The following pensions, for which the reason for entitlement arose before the date of entry into force of the provisions of this decree, are hereby increased by the percentages assigned to each of them:
– 25% for work injury and occupational disease pensions (partial disability), which are less than 80 (eighty) Rial Omani per month.
– 15% for pensions amounting to 80 (eighty) Rial Omani or more per month and less than 200 (two hundred) Rial Omani per month.
– 10% for pensions amounting to 200 (two hundred) Rial Omani or more per month and less than 300 (three hundred) Rial Omani per month.
– 5% for pensions amounting to 300 (three hundred) Rial Omani or more per month.
Article III
All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.
Article IV
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on 1 April 2008.
