Royal Decree 87/2003 Approving an Assignment

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Oil and Minerals Law issued by Royal Decree 42/74,

Royal Decree 43/98 Ratifying the Petroleum Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate and Occidental Oil and Gas (Oman) Limited signed on 15 June 1998,

Royal Decree 63/99 Approving the amendment to the mentioned petroleum agreement signed on 15 June 1998,

the contract dated 3 February 2003 by which Occidental Oil and Gas (Oman) Limited and Occidental Oman Inc assigned 35% of their rights and obligations in the petroleum agreement signed on 15 June 1998 to Mitsui E&P Middle East BV,. which accepts this assignment,

and the letter of the Minister of Oil and Gas 4/7/1102/2003 dated 5 May 2003 approving the assignment,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The assignment by Occidental Oil and Gas (Oman) Limited and Occidental Oman Inc of 35% of their rights and obligations in the petroleum agreement signed on 15 June 1998 to Mitsui E&P Middle East BV is hereby approved so that the final shares are as follows:

(a) Occidental Oil and Gas (Oman) Limited and Occidental Oman Inc 65%.

(b) Mitsui E&P Middle East BV 35%.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
