Royal Decree 20/99 Amending Some Provisions of the Scholarships and Education Aid Law

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Scholarships and Education Aid Law issued by Royal Decree 13/85 and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

Articles 10, 12 and 15(f) of the mentioned Scholarships and Education Aid Law are hereby repealed.

Article II

The text of article 21 of the mentioned Scholarships and Education Aid Law is hereby replaced with the following text:

Article 21

The postgraduate must serve the government after completing his studies for a period no less than the number of years of his scholarship for postgraduate studies, otherwise he must return all that has been disbursed to him during the period of his scholarship.

It is permitted to exempt him from his obligation as determined by the Civil Service Council in this regard.

Article III

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
