We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
and the System of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science issued by Royal Decree 95/88 and its amendments,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
First: The phrases “Secretariat general” and “Permanent Delegate of Oman to UNESCO and Delegate of Oman to ALECSO” in the mentioned system of the Omani National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science are hereby replaced with the phrases “Technical secretariat” and “Delegates of Oman to the three organisations.”
Second: The text of article 2 of the mentioned system is hereby replaced with the following text:
The commission must be formed under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education and the membership of:
– The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education and Curriculums—Deputy Chairman.
– A representative with the rank of director general for each of the following ministries and entities:
Ministry of Education
Ministry of Manpower
Ministry of Social Development
Ministry of Higher Education
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries
Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment, and Water Resources
Ministry of Information
Ministry of Heritage and Culture
Ministry of National Economy
Sultan Qaboos University
Public Authority for Youth Sports and Cultural Activities
Sultan Qaboos Centre for Islamic Culture
– Director of the Omani Society for Fine Arts
– Four persons interested in the affairs of education, culture, and science, appointed by a decision by the chairman of the committee, and whose term of membership is three years, subject to renewal.
– Secretary of the committee—Member and secretary
Article II
First: The following phrase is hereby added to the end of article 7(8) of the mentioned system:
and the decisions and recommendations issued by the general conferences of these organisations.
Second: The following are hereby added to the specialised committees stipulated in article 8 of this system:
the Media and Communication Committee, and the Women and Children Committee.
Article III
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
