We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The texts of articles 1(final paragraph), 3(First)(a)(1) and (Second)(e), and 4 of the Basic Statute of the Oman Centre for Investment Promotion and Export Development attached to the mentioned Royal Decree 59/96 are hereby replaced with the following texts:
Article 1
Investment: The use of foreign or local capital in establishing projects that serve the national economy in accordance with the laws in force in the Sultanate.
Article 3
First(a)(1) Focusing on industrial, agricultural, fisheries, tourism, service and other projects, including information and communication technology, while giving priority to projects concerned with the exploitation of natural resources and the transfer of technology.
Second(e) Holding specialised exhibitions and participating in them.
Article 4
The management of the centre must be undertaken by a board of directors formed under the chairmanship of the minister and the membership of a representative whose position is not less than a director general from each of the following:
– Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.
– Ministry of National Economy.
– Ministry of Oil and Gas.
– Ministry of Regional Municipalities, Environment, and Water Resources.
– Foreign Ministry.
– Ministry of Manpower.
– Royal Oman Police.
– Five representatives of the private sector selected by the minister in coordination with the Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
– The executive president of the centre.
The executive president shall replace the chairman in his absence.
Article II
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
