Royal Decree 25/2011 Making the Public Prosecution Independent

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and Royal Decree 92/99 Establishing the Public Prosecution and Promulgating Its Law,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Public Prosecution hereby enjoys administrative and financial independence.

Article II

The Public Prosecutor hereby assumes the powers of the Inspector General of Police and Customs stipulated in the aforementioned Public Prosecution Law.

Article III

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
