Royal Decree 16/2001 Determining the Boundaries of the Sites Included in the World Heritage List

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage approved by the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation at its seventeenth session in Paris on 16 November 1972,

the National Heritage Protection Law issued by Royal Decree 6/80,

and the decision of the World Heritage Committee at its twenty-fourth session held in Australia on 27 November 2000 to include the sites of Khor Rori – Al-Baleed – Shisr/Wubar – Wadi Dawkah under the name (The Frankincense Trail) in the World Heritage List,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The sites of Khor Rori – Al-Baleed – Shisr/Wubar – Wadi Dawkah which are included in the World Heritage List under the name (The Frankincense Trail), must have a buffer zone to be determined in accordance with the accompanying details and maps.

Article II

The relevant entities shall undertake the necessary measures to implement the provisions of this decree.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
