Royal Decree 78/89 Transferring the Mandate of the Control of the Sale and Distribution of Refined Petroleum Products to the Ministry of Oil and Minerals

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Ministry of Oil and Minerals hereby has the mandate to issue the necessary permits for the establishment of stations for the sale and distribution of refined petroleum products, and to control the distribution of such products throughout the Sultanate.

Article II

The provisions of the preceding article do not prejudice the procedures for registration in the Commercial Register in accordance with the provisions of Law 3/74.

Article III

The Directorate of Petroleum Products Affairs, its officers, and its allocations are hereby transferred from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to the Ministry of Oil and Minerals, and the organisational structure of each of the two ministries must be amended accordingly.

Article IV

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article V

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
