Statement of the Supreme Committee

The Supreme Committee on Covid-19 decides:

– To end the decision of reducing the number of employees required to be present in their workplaces in all of the units of the Administrative Apparatus of the State and other corporate entities as of Sunday 20 Rabia’ al-Akhir 1442 corresponding to 6th December 2020.

The Supreme Committee also urges all entities to necessarily continue their adherence to the precautionary and preventive measures that are essential to prevent the spread of the virus and to follow-up the entities’ commitment.

– To allow issuing tourist visas to enter the Sultanate, with the condition of having the tourists organized in groups by hotels and tourism firms.

– To reopen new package of commercial and industrial activities, with the necessity of having these activities committed to the required preventive measures. The competent authorities will announce further details of these activities.

Statement of the Supreme Committee

The Supreme Committee on Covid-19 decided to allow reopening mosques, which have a capacity to accommodate not less than 400 persons, for the Five Obligatory Prayers only without Friday Prayer as of Sunday 29th Rabi al-Awwal 1442 corresponding to 15th November 2020 and in accordance with the following regulations:

– An individual should avoid going to mosques if he, any of his family members or contacts have Covid-19 symptoms.

– Mosques to be opened at the prayer’s adhan for a period not exceeding 25 minutes including adhan, prayer and leaving the mosque.

– Qurans and other books at mosques shall be kept unreachable and not to be used by individuals.

– All drinking water coolers shall be locked.

– Washrooms shall be kept completely closed.

– Every individual shall bring his own prayer mat when coming to mosque.

– Every individual shall adhere to wearing a face mask during his stay at mosque.

– Sanitizing hands regularly in the entry and exit of mosques.

– Maintaining a safe distance of 1 and half meter between each individual.

– Mosques’ custodians shall ensure the adherence of all persons coming to mosques with the above-mentioned regulations and other precautionary procedures incorporated in “Guidelines and Procedures of Mosques Reopening” issued by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs that are in line with the regulations stated herein.

Statement of the Supreme Committee

The Supreme Committee on COVID-19 has mandated that all travelers arriving to the Sultanate through all ports (air, sea, and land) must undergo a PCR test not more than 96 hours prior to their arrival, in addition to taking the test again upon arrival. They must also adhere to a mandatory quarantine of 7 days and take the PCR test again on the 8th day.

The Supreme Committee has assigned Their Excellencies the Walis to register volunteers who are interested in contributing their time and efforts to this noble national cause, in accordance with the conditions that will be announced at a later time.

Statement of the Supreme Committee

The Supreme Committee expresses its deep concern as some individuals continue to gather in occasions, flouting the pandemic preventive norms, and have caused a spike in COVID-19 cases and deaths.

The Committee therefore urges all citizens and residents to join the national effort to fight the pandemic, and to report any incidents violating its decisions.

The Committee confirms the decision to start the school year for all students on Sunday, November 1st, 2020, adopting the blended curriculum for all schools, and focusing on distance learning.

The Committee has approved to open the doors to volunteering in various sectors which address the pandemic, and the competent authorities will announce the governing mechanisms.

Eventually, the committee wishes to note that the night movement ban will end on Saturday, October 24th, 2020 at 05:00 a.m.

Statement of the Supreme Committee

The Supreme Committee on COVID-19 decides:

– Banning movement and shutting down all public places and shops from 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM from Sunday, October 11, 2020, until Saturday, October 24, 2020.

– Shutting down all beaches until further notice.

– Re-closing some activities that were previously reopened and have not complied with the established requirements. The competent authorities will announce these details later.

– Publishing the names and photos of the violators in various media platforms.

– Lift the lockdown of Dhofar Governorate as of October 1, while calling upon all individuals and institutions to adhere to precautionary and preventive measures that ensure the safety of everyone.

– Continue the special facilitations provided by the government to the private sector and its employees until the end of the current year. The competent authorities will announce the details of these facilitations later.

– Allow the return of those holding valid residence as of October 1, provided they undergo COVID-19 test (PCR) upon arrival and stay under quarantine for 14 days.

Statement of the Supreme Committee

– The sub-committee addressing the economic repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic held a meeting this morning headed by His Excellency Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, in the presence of their Highnesses and Excellencies members of the committee, at the Ministry of Interior.

– The committee reviewed the preventive measures taken earlier to support the sustainability of businesses of private sector and to foster its ability to adjust to the exceptional situations resulting from the pandemic.

– The measures included the packages of commercial and industrial businesses, and the facilities provided by the government to private sector institutions and the emergency loan programme to assist some groups of entrepreneurs mostly affected by the pandemic.

– The committee eventually studied issues concerning its work and made recommendations to the Supreme Committee so to take the appropriate decisions regarding them.

Statement of the Supreme Committee

The Supreme Committee for Dealing with COVID-19 would like to draw everyone’s attention that the night movement ban will end at 5:00 am tomorrow morning, Saturday, August 15, 2020.

While appreciating the great response shown by the citizens and residents, the Committee calls upon everyone to continue to strictly adhere to wearing face masks, keep physical distancing and maintain hand hygiene along with other preventive measures in order to curb the spread of Coronavirus.
