We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,
and Royal Decree 34/73 Issuing the Labour Law,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article 1
The text of article 22 of the mentioned Royal Decree 34/73 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Every employer who employs twenty workers or more shall contribute to the vocational training of Omanis by one or all of the following means in accordance with the decision issued by the minister.
(a) Establishing a training centre at the workplace and developing training and testing programmes supervised by the ministry.
(b) Contributing with other employers working in an industry similar to his industry to establishing a training centre and developing training and testing programmes supervised by the ministry.
(c) Providing a financial contribution to vocational training projects managed by the ministry. This contribution must be calculated based on the number of workers employed by the employer. The minister shall determine the amount of the contribution by a decision issued by him, provided that it does not exceed 6% of the total salaries of all workers per year.
Article 2
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
