Royal Decree 49/86 Declaring Public Benefit Status for the Hilat Al-Sadd Area Beautification Project

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

and Royal Decree 64/78 issuing the Law on the Expropriation for Public Benefit,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

The Hilat Al-Sadd Area Beautification Project specified in the attached note and masterplan is hereby deemed a public benefit project.

Article 2

The competent entities may seize land and real estate necessary for the mentioned project, and all establishments on them, in accordance with the provisions of the mentioned Law on the Expropriation for Public Benefit.

Article 3

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

Note on the Request to Declare Public Benefit Status for the Hilat Al-Sadd Area Beautification Project

Within the framework of the royal directives of His Majesty the Sultan, may God protect him, to take the necessary measures to beautify the Capital region, the Diwan of Royal Court Affairs has prepared the Hilat Al-Sadd Area Beautification Project and the masterplan for its implementation. Whereas the implementation of the project requires the expropriation of the land and real estate obstructing its path. Therefore, the issuance of a royal decree is required to declare the public benefit status of the project in preparation for expropriation, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on the Expropriation for Public Benefit.
