We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,
and Royal Decree 99/86 Amending the General Statute of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article 1
Articles 29 and 34 of the General Statute of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Sultanate of Oman are hereby amended to read as follows:
Article 29
The board of directors of the chamber consists of twenty-one members, fourteen of whom must be elected by the general assembly by secret ballot. The person who receives the largest number of votes must be the chairman of the board for a non-renewable term of four years. The remaining seven members must be appointed by decree and selected from a list of fifteen names proposed by the elected members at a special meeting held for this purpose within a period of two weeks from the date of their election. The Minister of Commerce and Industry shall submit this list, accompanied by his opinion, to His Majesty the Sultan. In making the selection, consideration must be given to ensuring that all regions are represented on the board of directors from among those residing in each region.
Article 34
The board of directors shall, upon its completion and every four years, elect from among its members a deputy chairman, a secretary, a treasurer, and three members of the board of directors who constitute the executive office of the chamber.
Article 2
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
