We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,
Royal Decree 68/79 Establishing the Council for Environmental Protection and Pollution Control and its amendments,
and Royal Decree 45/84 Establishing the Ministry of Environment,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The name of the “Ministry of Regional Municipalities” is hereby amended to the “Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Environment”.
Article II
The powers, allocations, and logs of the Council for Environmental Protection and Pollution Control and the Ministry of Environment are hereby transferred to the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Environment, and the officers working in them are hereby transferred to it.
Article III
The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Environment shall submit to the Council of Ministers the draft national plan for environmental protection and pollution control of all kinds and sources for discussion in preparation for submission to His Majesty the Sultan for approval.
Article IV
The mentioned Royal Decrees 68/79 and 45/84 are hereby repealed, as well as all that is contrary to this decree or in conflict with its provisions.
Article V
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from 15 December 1991.
