We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
Royal Decree 24/75 on the Determination of Diyat and Arsh,
and Royal Decision 2/83 Amending the Diyat and Arsh,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The diyat al-nafs referred to in Royal Decision 2/83 is hereby increased to fifteen thousand Rial Omani, and the arsh in injuries and wounds is hereby assessed on the basis of the diyat.
In all cases, the loss of the function of an organ is considered a loss of it, and a single organ does not have multiple diyat if it has multiple functions.
Article II
Diyat and arsh in injuries and wounds are hereby determined in the manner provided in the attached annex, without prejudice to the right to diyat or arsh in cases not provided in this annex.
Article III
The mentioned diyat and arsh restore all physical and moral damages.
Article IV
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on 1 December 2008.
