Royal Decree 67/2019 Creating the Position of Minister of State and Governor of Musandam and Amending Royal Decree 114/2011 Approving the Administrative Division of the Sultanate and Governing the Work of Governors

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and Royal Decree 114/2011 Approving the Administrative Division of the Sultanate and Governing the Work of Governors,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

A position named the “Minister of State and Governor of Musandam” is hereby created.

Article II

Office of the Minister of State and Governor of Musandam is hereby established. Its competences shall be issued, and its organisational structure shall be approved, by royal decree.

Article III

The texts of articles II and III of the aforementioned Royal Decree 114/2011 is hereby replaced with the following texts:

Article  II 

Appointment of a governor shall be by royal decree, and he shall be subject to the supervision of the Minister of  Interior in exercising his competences except for the Governors of Muscat, Dhofar, and Musandam.

Article III 

The competences of a governor shall be determined in accordance with the attached Annex 2, except the Governors of Muscat, Dhofar, and Musandam.

Article IV

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article V

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
