We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State,

Royal Decree 60/96 Establishing the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council,

Royal Decree 48/2012 Establishing the Education Council and Promulgating Its System,

and Royal Decree 98/2020 Amending the Name of the Ministry of Higher Education to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, Determining Its Competences, and Adopting Its Organisational Structure,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and the Education Council are hereby abolished.

Article II

All competences, allocations, assets, rights, obligations, and holdings of the Financial Affairs and Energy Resources Council and the Education Council relating to drawing up policies and following up on their implementation are hereby transferred to the Council of Ministers, and their executive competences are hereby transferred to the competent units of the administrative apparatus of the state, in accordance with the rules determined by the Council of Ministers.

Article III

The employees of the Secretariat General of the Education Council are hereby transferred to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation with their same financial grades, in accordance with the rules determined by the Council of Ministers.

Article IV

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article V

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
