Royal Decree 51/2024 Establishing the National Records Centre and Determining Its Competences

We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State,

the Police Law promulgated by Royal Decree 35/90,

Royal Decree 15/2015 Conducting the Electronic Census of the Population, Housing, and Establishments for the Year 2020,

the Statistics and Information Law promulgated by Royal Decree 55/2019,

and the System of the Administrative Apparatus of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 75/2020,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

A directorate general is hereby established within the organisational structure of the Royal Oman Police named the “National Records Centre”.

Article II

The competences of the National Records Centre are hereby determined in accordance with the attached annex.

Article III

All allocations, assets, rights, obligations, and holdings for national records are hereby transferred to the National Records Centre from the Electronic Census of the Population, Housing, and Establishments for the Year 2020 Project.

Article IV

The employees of the Electronic Census of the Population, Residences, and Establishments for the Year 2020 Project are hereby transferred to the National Records Centre with financial grades equivalent to their salaries.

Article V

The Inspector General of Police and Customs shall issue the necessary regulations and decisions to implement the provisions of this decree.

Article VI

All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article VII

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
