Royal Decree 90/2010 Amending Some Provisions of the Foreigners Residency Law

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Foreigners Residency Law promulgated by Royal Decree 16/95,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The texts of articles 43(2) and 43bis of the aforementioned Foreigners Residency Law are hereby replaced with the following texts:

Article 43(2)

Whoever incites, assists in, or agrees to or attempting to commit any act in violation of the provisions of articles 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13 must be punished with the same aforementioned punishment.

Article 43bis

Captains of ships and aircraft and drivers of vehicles who bring a foreigner into the territory of the Sultanate, get him out of it, attempt to bring him into the territory of the Sultanate, or remove him from it in a manner that violates the provisions of this law, must be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years, and a fine not exceeding two thousand Rial Omani, or one of those two punishments.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.
