We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,
Royal Decree 104/85 Amending the Name of the Ministry of Environment and Its Mandates,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article 1
The name of the “Directorate General of Water Resources and Irrigation” at the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries is hereby amended to “Directorate General of Irrigation Affairs”, and the organisational structure of the ministry is hereby amended accordingly.
Article 2
The mandates of the mentioned Directorate General of Irrigation Affairs are hereby determined as follows:
1. Supervising the maintenance of aflaj, wells, and springs.
2. Protecting agricultural lands from erosion and damage caused by flooding from neighbouring wadis by constructing the necessary facilities.
3. Constructing groundwater recharge dams to provide the water required for agricultural development purposes.
4. Providing cadastral and statistical data on aflaj, wells, springs, and dams.
Article 3
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries shall issue the necessary decisions to implement this decree.
Article 4
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
