Statement of the Supreme Committee
Within its continuous sessions held to evaluate the developments of COVID-19 in the Sultanate, the Supreme Committee has reviewed the global epidemiological surveillance reports, which showed a sharp increase of cases, especially with the spread of mutated strains linked to travel-associated exportation, and that could pose an additional threat to the public health. Accordingly, attempting to protect the health and well-being of the public, and to safeguard the capabilities of the local healthcare system, the Supreme Committee decided to impose an institutional quarantine for all arrivals from the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including Omani citizens, effective 12pm of Tuesday 17 August 2021, until further notice.
