Statement of the Supreme Committee
Within its continuous sessions held to evaluate and address the developments of COVID-19 pandemic, the Supreme Committee has reviewed the epidemiological surveillance reports which showed a decrease in the number of cases and a significant decline of admissions hospitalized in healthcare and intensive care units and the ongoing vaccination efforts made in all sectors.
Hence, pursuing to maintain the public health and to ensure business continuity, and based on the recommendation of the competent technical team, the Supreme Committee decided the following:
First: allowing Jumu’ah (Friday) prayers and reopening houses of worship to those who have received at least one dose of the vaccine until the end of September 2021, provided that the attendee count should not exceed 50% of the setting capacity; mosques and other places of worship, and that the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is responsible for organizing and enforcing the precautionary measures adopted in this regard.
Second: allowing participation in religious, social, cultural, sports, exhibitions and conferences for those who have received at least one dose of the vaccine until the end of September 2021, provided that the number of attendees shall not exceed 50% of the setting capacity; halls, sites or venues. The competent authorities shall organize and monitor a proper implementation of precautions at the mentioned activities.
Third: terminating the decision mandating institutional quarantine to arrivals from the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they are now subject to the same controls set to arrivals from other countries of the world.
The Supreme Committee stresses the need to adhere to the precautions, prominently practicing social distancing, washing hands and wearing face masks when participating in gatherings of any kind and notes that it is in continuous follow-up and assessments of the local and global epidemiological situation and will take the appropriate decisions as needed accordingly.
