We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Law on Environmental Protection and Pollution Control issued by Royal Decree 10/82 and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The text of article 30 of the mentioned Law on Environmental Protection and Pollution Control issued by Royal Decree 10/82 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Article 30

Without prejudice to any punishment more severe in any other law, whoever causes the damage of nature reserves or harms the property or flora or fauna within them, whether by cutting, hunting, killing, or in any other form, must be punished by imprisonment for a period no less than six months and not exceeding five years, and a fine no less than one thousand Rial and not exceeding five thousand Rial.

The foregoing punishment applies even if the crime is committed against an animal after they are released or leave the scope of the nature reserve.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Law of Sultan Qaboos University issued by Royal Decree 9/86 and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Sultan Qaboos University Council is hereby recomposed under the chairmanship of the vice chancellor of the university and the membership of the following:

– Dr Ali bin Mohammed bin Moosa.

– Mohammed bin Ali bin Nasser Al-Alawi.

– Abdulqadir bin Salim Al-Dhahab.

– Rajha bint Abdulamir bin Ali.

– Sheikh Aflah bin Hamad bin Salim Al-Rawahi.

– Salim bin Abdullah Al-Rawas.

– Secretary general of the university—Member and secretary.

– Two Omani teaching faculty members.

The council may seek the assistance of experts, consultants, and deans of colleges, whether in its meetings or in the sessions of its committees.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
