We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Oil and Minerals Law issued by Royal Decree 42/74,

Royal Decree 65/96 Approving the Petroleum Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate and Phillips Petroleum Oman Limited,

the contract dated 17 May 1997 by which Philips Petroleum Oman Limited assigned 25% (twenty-five percent) of its rights and obligations in the petroleum agreement signed on 15 July 1996 to Maersk Oil Oman AS, which accepts this assignment,

and the letter of the Minister of Oil and Minerals dated 13 April 1997 approving the assignment,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The assignment by Philips Petroleum Oman Limited of 25% (twenty-five percent) of its rights and obligations in the mentioned petroleum agreement signed on 15 July 1996 to Maersk Oil Oman AS is hereby approved. The final shares of the parties to the agreement are as follows:

75% for Philips Petroleum Oman Limited.

25% for Maersk Oil Oman AS.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

Royal Decree 88/80 on the Accession of the Sultanate to the International Mobile Satellite Organisation (INMARSAT),

and the proposed amendments to the charter of the mentioned organisation and its operating agreement,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The Minister of Post, Telegraph, and Telephone is hereby authorised to sign the proposed amendments to the charter of the mentioned organisation and its operating agreement, and to approve their temporary application until the completion of the final ratification procedures.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

and the Agreement to Facilitate and Develop Trade Among Arab States signed on 27 February 1981,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The accession of the Sultanate of Oman to the Agreement to Facilitate and Develop Trade Among Arab States is hereby approved.

Article II

Competent entities shall undertake the procedures for acceding to the agreement in accordance with its provisions.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
