We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Civil Service Law issued by Royal Decree 8/80 and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

His Highness Sayyid Barghash bin Said Al-Said is hereby appointed Advisor in the Office of the Special Representative of His Majesty the Sultan.

Article II

Sayyid Said bin Ibrahim Al-Busaidi is hereby appointed Deputy Governor of Muscat.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

and the Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of India for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income signed in New Delhi on 2 April 1997,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The mentioned Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the Republic of India for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income is hereby ratified.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

The text of article 2(1) of the mentioned Royal Decree 31/96 is hereby replaced with the following text:

1. Shares and bonds issued by Omani public joint stock companies.

Article II

Article 4 of the mentioned Royal Decree 31/96 is hereby repealed.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from 15 May 1996.
