Royal Decree 66/81 Determining the Powers of the Advisor of State for Criminal Affairs

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

Royal Decree 7/74 Issuing the Omani Penal Law,

and Royal Decree 65/81 Appointing an Advisor to the State for Criminal Affairs,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

The powers of the Advisor of State for Criminal Affairs are hereby determined in the following matters:

(a) Receiving the judgments issued by the competent criminal court in felony cases as defined in article 29 of the mentioned Omani Penal Law and making any observations he deems appropriate to the mentioned court.

(b) Submitting what must be submitted to His Majesty the Sultan in accordance with the Omani Penal Law, accompanied by an opinion.

(c) Expressing an opinion on other matters relating to criminal affairs that His Majesty the Sultan deems fit to refer to him.

Article 2

All that is contrary to the provisions of this decree, or in conflict with them, is hereby repealed. All relevant entities shall implement it, each within its mandates.

Article 3

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
