Royal Decree 98/81 on the Law Governing Maritime Navigation in Territorial Waters

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Promulgating the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

the Royal Decree on Territorial Waters, the Continental Shelf, and the Exclusive Fisheries Zone issued on 17 July 1972, as amended by virtue of Royal Decree 44/77,

Royal Decree 46/76 Establishing the Port Services Corporation,

and the Royal Decree on the Omani Maritime Law issued on 15 April 1981,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The provisions of the attached law shall apply to the affairs of ports, lighthouses, ships, sailors, and pilots. It shall be named the Law Governing Maritime Navigation in Territorial Waters.

Article II

The application of any law, decree, or other legal text whose provisions are in conflict with or in contravention of the provisions of this law is hereby repealed.

Article III

The Minister of Transport shall issue the regulations and decisions governing this law.

Article IV

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
