Royal Decree 116/81 Appointing a President for the Criminal Court

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

Royal Decree 7/74 Issuing the Omani Penal Law,

Royal Decree 81/77 Transferring the Services of Hilal bin Sultan bin Saif Al-Hosni to the Ministry of Justice and Appointing Him as Its Undersecretary,

Royal Decree 8/80 Issuing the Civil Service Law and its amendments,

Royal Decree 66/81 Determining the Powers of the Advisor to the State for Criminal Affairs,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

Hilal bin Sultan bin Saif Al-Hosni is hereby appointed President of the Criminal Court with his same grade.

Article 2

Without prejudice to the provisions of the mentioned Royal Decree 66/81, the President of the Criminal Court hereby enjoys judicial independence in the field of his work.

Article 3

Until a royal decree is issued on the scope and statute of the work of the Criminal Court and defining its organisational structure and its financial and administrative status, the court hereby continues to carry out its work by its current means.

Article 4

The mentioned Royal Decree 81/77 is hereby repealed.

Article 5

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
