Royal Decree 65/97 Promulgating the Law on the Censorship of Artistic Works

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Law on the Censorship of Artistic Works promulgated by Royal Decree 45/76,

Royal Decree 20/77 Determining the Competences of the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture,

and Royal Decree 15/97 Adopting the Organisational Structure of the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The provisions of the attached law shall apply in regard to the censorship of artistic works.

Article II

The Minister of National Heritage and Culture shall issue the necessary decisions to implement the provisions of this law.

Article III

The aforementioned Royal Decree 45/76 is hereby repealed, as well as every text that is contrary to the attached law or in conflict with its provisions.

Article IV

Licences regarding artistic works, existing at the time of the promulgation of this law, shall continue to operate until the expiry of their period.

Article V

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its publication.
