Royal Decree 82/98 Establishing the Muscat Depository and Securities Registration Company

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Commercial Companies Law 4/74 and its amendments,

and the Capital Market Law issued by Royal Decree 80/98,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

An Omani closed joint stock company (SAOC) is hereby established named Muscat Depository and Securities Registration Company, and the provisions provided in the attached annex hereby apply to the company.

Article II

The constitutive contract of the company and its articles of association must be prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Commercial Companies Law to the degree that they do not contradict with the provisions of the attached annex. The Minister of Commerce and Industry is hereby authorised to sign it on behalf of the authority.

Article III

The company is hereby granted the concession to carry out the work of the unified office for deposit and transfer in the Muscat Securities Market and to provide the services described in the attached annex, in accordance with the terms and conditions set out in the concession contract concluded between the authority and the company. The Minister of Commerce and Industry is hereby authorised to sign the contract on behalf of the authority.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its publication.
