Royal Decree 68/2007 Amending Some Provisions of the Law of Public Notaries

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Law of Public Notaries issued by Royal Decree 40/2003,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The text of the first paragraph of article 7 of the mentioned Law of Public Notaries is hereby replaced with the following text:

The public notary shall notarise contracts and documents that are required to be notarised by law or those requested by those concerned, and shall record them in the registers prepared for this without modification, deletion, addition, or separation. In the case of error, mistake, or the occurrence of a cause for correction or addition, that must be undertaken in light purple ink and with the attendance of those concerned, and the public notary shall sign the correction.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.
