We, Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State,
the Judicial Authority Law issued by Royal Decree 90/99,
the Public Prosecution Law issued by Royal Decree 92/99,
and Royal Decree 35/2022 on the Regulation of the Administration of Judicial Affairs,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The name of the “Public Prosecution” (الادعاء العام) is hereby amended to the “Public Prosecution” (النيابة العامة).
Article II
The phrases “Public Prosecution” (الادعاء العام) and “Prosecutor General” (المدعي العام) are hereby replaced with the phrases “Public Prosecution” (النيابة العامة) and “Prosecutor General” (النائب العام) wherever they occur in laws and royal decrees.
The job titles “Deputy Prosecutor General” (نائب المدعي العام), “Assistant Prosecutors General” (مساعدو المدعي العام), “Chief Public Prosecutors” (رؤساء ادعاء عام), “First Public Prosecutors” (وكلاء ادعاء عام أول), “Second Public Prosecutors” (وكلاء ادعاء عام ثوان), and “Assistant Public Prosecutors” (معاونو ادعاء عام) are also hereby replaced with the titles “Deputy Prosecutor General” (النائب العام المساعد), “Assistant Prosecutors General” (مساعدو النائب العام), “Chief Public Prosecutors” (رؤساء نيابة عامة), “First Public Prosecutors” (وكلاء نيابة عامة أول), “Second Public Prosecutors” (وكلاء نيابة عامة ثوان), and “Assistant Public Prosecutors” (معاونو نيابة عامة) wherever they occur in laws and royal decrees.
Article III
All that is contrary to this decree, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.
Article IV
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
