Arabic We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments, and Royal Decree 8/80 Issuing the Civil Service Law and its amendments, and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

The services of Ahmed bin Hamoud Al-Maamari are hereby transferred from the Foreign Ministry to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, and he is hereby appointed Director General of Translation Affairs with the financial grade designated for an undersecretary.

Article 2

after perusal of Royal Decree 26/75 Issuing the Law Governing the Administrative Apparatus of the State and its amendments,

have decreed as follows

Article 1

A ministry named the Ministry of Regional Municipalities Affairs is hereby established and Brigadier General Sayyid Al-Mutasim bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi is hereby appointed as its minister, while remaining Chairman of the Musandam Development Committee.

Article 2

Sayyid Abdulhamid bin Yarub Al-Busaidi is hereby appointed Undersecretary of the Ministry of Regional Municipalities Affairs.

Article 3

The ministry is competent with the following duties:

1. Working to improve municipal services in the various regions and wilayat.

2. Establishing, forming, and determining the scope of committees for regional municipalities in coordination with the Ministry of Interior.

3. Proposing laws and regulations relating to regional municipalities and their committees in coordination with legal affairs.

4. Cooperating with government agencies and committees concerned with the development of regions.

5. Participating in international and regional conferences and organisations concerned with regional municipalities affairs.

6. Working to qualify and train the Omani employees working in the ministry.

7. The ministry shall exercise its powers through its various units in accordance with its organisational structure.

Article 4

The powers previously vested in the Ministry of Land Affairs and Municipalities in the field of regional municipalities are hereby transferred to the Ministry of Regional Municipalities Affairs, and all that is contrary to this is hereby repealed.

Article 5

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
