Royal Decree 59/2010 Amending Some Provisions of Royal Decree 71/93 Establishing a Fund to Support Sporting Activities

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

and Royal Decree 71/93 Establishing a Fund to Support Sporting Activities,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The text of article 3 of the aforementioned Royal Decree 71/93 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Article 3

The works of the fund must be managed by a board of directors formed by virtue of royal orders.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

Salim bin Musallam bin Ghanim Al-Kathiri, Head of the Commercial Office of the Sultanate in the Emirate of Dubai, is hereby granted the special grade.

Royal Decree 55/2010 Amending Some Laws

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Judicial Authority Law promulgated by Royal Decree 90/99,

and the Civil and Commercial Procedures Law promulgated by Royal Decree 29/2002,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The phrase “Adhal lawsuits” is hereby added after the word “contestations” provided in the first paragraph of article 2 of the aforementioned Judicial Authority Law.

Article II

A second paragraph is hereby added to article 273 of the aforementioned Civil and Commercial Procedures Law with the following text:

As an exception to the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the Shariah Court Circuit of the Supreme Court has the exclusive jurisdiction to rule on Adhal lawsuits filed before it in accordance with the procedures and rules stipulated in this law followed before the courts of first instance.

A woman may file a grievance against the decision rejecting her lawsuit referred to in the preceding paragraph to His Majesty the Sultan by a request submitted to the Diwan of Royal Court within thirty days from the day following the date of the issuance of the judgment.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

Royal Decree 54/2010 Establishing the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the System of Public Authorities and Establishments issued by Royal Decree 116/91,

the Financial Law issued by Royal Decree 47/98,

Royal Decree 65/98 Establishing the Higher Education Council,

Royal Decree 74/2001 Establishing the Accreditation Council,

Royal Decree 6/2002 Determining the Competences of the Ministry of Higher Education and Adopting Its Organisational Structure,

and the Civil Service Law promulgated by Royal Decree 120/2004,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

An authority named the “Oman Academic Accreditation Authority” is hereby established to replace the Accreditation Council, subordinate to the Higher Education Council, and the attached system applies in regard to it.

Article II

The chairman of the board of directors of the authority shall issue the necessary regulations and decisions to implement the provisions of the attached system.

Article III

Royal Decree 74/2001 Establishing the Accreditation Council is hereby repealed.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

Royal Decree 38/2005 Approving the Petroleum Agreement between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and Reliance Industries Ltd,

and the collection of documents by which Reliance Industries Ltd assigned part of its rights and obligations in the petroleum agreement signed on 12 March 2005 to Oman Oil Company for Exploration and Production LLC, which accepts this assignment,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The assignment by Reliance Industries Ltd of 30% of its rights and obligations in the petroleum agreement signed on 12 March 2005 to Oman Oil Company for Exploration and Production LLC is hereby approved.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
