Royal Decree 99/2006 Amending Royal Decree 76/96 Determining the Public Holidays

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and Royal Decree 76/96 Determining the Dates of Official Holidays and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The words “holiday” and “holidays”—provided in the mentioned Royal Decree 76/96—are hereby replaced with the words “leave” and “leaves”.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

Royal Decree 98/2006 Amending Some Laws

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Judicial Authority Law issued by Royal Decree 90/99 and its amendments,

the Law of the Administrative Court issued by Royal Decree 91/99,

and the Public Prosecution Law issued by Royal Decree 92/99,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The text of article 32 of the Judicial Authority Law issued by Royal Decree 90/99 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Appointment in judicial positions must be by a decision by the Minister of Justice after the approval of the Council of Administrative Affairs, with the exception of the position of the President of the Supreme Court, the position of the Deputy President of the Supreme Court, and the position of Supreme Court Judge, whose appointment must be by royal decree based on a nomination by the council.

Article II

The text of the first paragraph of article 45 of the Law of the Administrative Court issued by Royal Decree 91/99 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Appointment in the positions of the members of the court must be by a decision by the competent minister after the approval of the Council of Administrative Affairs, with the exception of the position of the president of the court and the position of the deputy president, whose appointment must be by royal decree based on a nomination by the Council of Administrative Affairs.

Article III

The text of article 7 of the Public Prosecution Law issued by Royal Decree 92/99 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Appointment in the positions of the Public Prosecution must be by a decision of the Inspector General of Police and Customs after the approval of the Council of Administrative Affairs stipulated in the Judicial Authority Law, with the exception of the position of Public Prosecutor and the position of Deputy Public Prosecutor, whose appointment must be by royal decree through a nomination by the council based on a recommendation by the inspector general.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.

the Law Concerning the Officer System of the Diwan of Royal Court issued by Royal Decree 97/97,

and Royal Decree 44/2004 regarding the Adoption of the Organisational Structure of the Royal Court Affairs and the Powers of the Secretary General Relating to Its Administrative Divisions,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

Nasr bin Hamoud bin Ahmed Al-Kindi is hereby appointed head of financial and procurement affairs with the rank of undersecretary of a ministry.

Article II

Jubair bin Mohammed bin Amin Al-Bastaki is hereby appointed head of royal hospitality affairs with the rank of undersecretary of a ministry.

Article III

Alawi bin Ahmed bin Alawi Al-Haddad is hereby appointed general supervisor of the office of the secretary general in Salalah with the rank of undersecretary of a ministry.

Article IV

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
