We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,

and the Diplomatic and Consular Corps Law issued by Royal Decree 40/86 and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

Salim bin Rajab Baomar is hereby appointed to the grade of Ambassador in the Foreign Ministry.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on 1 March 1998.

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The mentioned Agreement Establishing the Middle East Desalination Research Centre is hereby ratified.

Article II

The mentioned Headquarters Agreement Between the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and the Middle East Desalination Research Centre is hereby ratified.

Article III

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

The mentioned Agreement Between the Government of Sultanate of Oman and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and Capital Gains is hereby ratified.

and Royal Decree 34/73 Issuing the Labour Law and its amendments,

and in pursuance of public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The text of article 22(a) of the mentioned Labour Law issued by Royal Decree 34/73 is hereby replaced with the following text:

Every employer shall provide an annual financial contribution to vocational training projects managed by the ministry in accordance with a decision issued by the Minister of Social Affairs, Labour, and Vocational Training based on the approval of the Council of Ministers.

Article II

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from 14 December 1997.
