Environment Authority: Administrative Decision 51/2023 Issuing the Regulation Governing the Import and Transit of Hazardous and Non-hazardous Waste

Based on Royal Decree 119/94 Approving the Accession of the Sultanate of Oman to Some International Agreements,

the Law on Environment Protection and Pollution Prevention promulgated by Royal Decree 114/2001,

the Non-hazardous Solid Waste Management Regulation issued by Ministerial Decision 17/93,

the Hazardous Waste Management Regulation issued by Ministerial Decision 18/93,

the Regulation Governing the Issuance of Environmental Permits issued by Ministerial Decision 48/2017,

and the approval of the Ministry of Finance,

and in pursuance of public interest,

it is hereby decided

Article I

The provisions of the attached regulation shall apply in regard to the governance of the import and transit of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.

Article II

All that is contrary to the attached regulation, or in conflict with its provisions, is hereby repealed.

Article III

This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on 1 May 2023.

Environment Authority: Administrative Decision 50/2023 Issuing the Regulation Governing Hazardous Chemicals

Based on the System for the Handling and Use of Chemicals promulgated by Royal Decree 46/95,

Royal Decree 117/2004 Ratifying the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs),

the Regulation of Registering Chemicals and Their Permits issued by Ministerial Decision 248/97,

the Regulation on the Requirements for Packing, Packaging, and Placing Data and Labels for Hazardous Chemicals issued by Ministerial Decision 317/2001,

Ministerial Decision 14/2017 Determining the Fees for Granting Permits to Handle Chemicals,

and the approval of the Ministry of Finance,

and in pursuance of public interest,

it is hereby decided

Article I

The provisions of the attached regulation shall apply in regard to the governance of hazardous chemicals.

Article II

Ministerial Decisions 248/97, 317/2001, and 14/2017 are hereby repealed, as well as all that is contrary to the attached regulation or in conflict with its provisions.

Article III

This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the day following the date of its publication.
