Royal Decree 33/2002 Promulgating the Tourism Law

We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman

After perusal of the Basic Statute of the State promulgated by Royal Decree 101/96,

the Commercial Register Law 3/74 and its amendments,

the Commercial Companies Law 4/74 and its amendments,

and the System of Travel and Tourism Offices promulgated by Royal Decree 12/88 and its amendments,

and in pursuance of the public interest,

have decreed as follows

Article I

The provisions of the attached Tourism Law shall apply.

Article II

Whoever practises a tourism activity on the date this law comes into force shall rectify his status in accordance with its provisions within one year from the date of its coming into force.

Article III

The Minister of Commerce and Industry shall issue the necessary executive regulation for implementing the provisions of this law, and until such regulation is issued, the existing regulation and decisions continue to operate to the degree that they do not contradict with the provisions of this law.

Article IV

The aforementioned Royal Decree 82/88 is hereby repealed, as well as all that is contrary to this law or in conflict with its provisions.

Article V

This decree shall be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on the date of its issuance.
