We, Qaboos bin Said, the Sultan of Oman
after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
and Royal Decree 3/83 on the Law Governing Omani Nationality and its amendments,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
In exception to the provisions of article II of the mentioned Royal Decree 3/83, Omani nationality is hereby granted to:
– Najmuddin Ahmed Khan.
– Mohammed Moheb Ali Al-Sayed Mohammed Al-Hashimi.
– Nowshaba Parween Sulaiman.
– Khimji Kashandas Wasomol.
– Ismail Ahmed Somar.
Article II
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force on 18 May 1998.

have decreed as follows
Article I
Ambassador Hussain bin Ali bin Abdullatif, Our ambassador to the United Kingdom, is hereby appointed a non-resident ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ours to the Republic of South Africa.
Article II
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.

after perusal of the Basic Statute of the State issued by Royal Decree 101/96,
and Royal Decree 25/84 Governing the Criminal Judiciary and its amendments,
and in pursuance of public interest,
have decreed as follows
Article I
The text of article III of the mentioned Royal Decree 25/84 is hereby replaced with the following text:
The criminal court in the capital, composed of the president of the court, the deputy president, or the most senior judge in it, and the membership of two judges, considers felony cases as defined in the Omani Penal Law. Its judgments are final after being reviewed and approved by the State Advisor for Criminal Affairs. It also considers appeals against judgments issued in misdemeanours, and its judgments in this case are final.
A committee must be formed of the State Advisor for Criminal Affairs, the State Advisor for Judicial Affairs, and the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman to express an opinion from a Sharia perspective on the death sentences before they are issued and ratified.
Article II
This decree must be published in the Official Gazette, and comes into force from the date of its issuance.
